What S 2420 does, verified January 20, 2025
The bill proposes to amend the Multiple Dwelling Law to require that new multiple dwellings contain the minimum number of dwelling units required for the lot or lots on which they will be constructed. This minimum number is based on two options: the total number of dwelling units in all existing buildings on the lot prior to demolition, or the maximum number of dwelling units permitted by local zoning and building codes. The bill will take effect immediately and apply to any applications for permits filed or pending on or after this date.
