S 2426: Requires the state to reimburse counties for costs incurred when holding parolees in detention facilities for technical parole violations pending a hearing with their parole officer.
The state of New York is introducing a new law to require the state to reimburse counties for certain costs incurred when holding individuals on parole violations. The law aims to provide reimbursement for counties' expenses related to providing care, maintenance, and supervision to parolees in detention facilities while they await a hearing with their parole officer. This reimbursement will cover the costs made by counties in holding these individuals, ensuring that the state takes responsibility for supporting local law enforcement efforts in addressing parole violations.
