What S 2444 does, verified June 6, 2026

The bill aims to protect the right to breastfeed in public. A person can breastfeed in any location, public or private, as long as they are otherwise authorized to be there. This means that a mother can breastfeed in a store, restaurant, or other public place, without being asked to leave or covering up. The bill does not require breastfeeding to be done discreetly, allowing mothers to breastfeed freely in any location where they are allowed. The law will take effect immediately, providing protection to breastfeeding mothers in New York.
