S 2450: Adds gaming disorder to the types of disorders classified in the mental hygiene law.
What S 2450 does, verified January 8, 2026
The proposed law aims to add a new definition to the Mental Hygiene Law, which would recognize "gaming disorder" as a disorder due to addictive behavior, as defined in the most recent edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) published by the World Health Organization. This definition would help identify and address gaming disorder as a legitimate mental health condition. The law would take effect immediately upon passage.
