S 2465: Allows home-schooled children to participate in interscholastic athletic activities and driver's education in the district where they reside.
The proposed law aims to provide home-schooled pupils with equal opportunities to participate in school activities, including athletic events, within their local school districts. A home-schooled child residing in a district can enroll in a course offered by the district, as long as they meet the course requirements and pay any associated fees. Similarly, a home-schooled child can participate in an interscholastic athletic activity if they reside in the district but do not attend the school offering the activity. The law will take effect 120 days after it becomes law, allowing districts and schools to implement the changes.
