The bill requires sex offenders to notify the Division of Criminal Justice Services within ten calendar days of any change of address, internet accounts, or other relevant information. This notification must be submitted to a law enforcement agency, which will then forward the information to the Division. The law enforcement agency will provide a copy of the completed form to the offender and retain a copy for its records. A fee of $10 will be submitted by the offender each time they register a change of address or other relevant information. Failure to submit the required fee will not affect the acceptance of the notification. The bill takes effect immediately.

  STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 2468 2025-2026 Regular Sessions  IN SENATE January 21, 2025 ___________ Introduced by Sen. SEPULVEDA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to reporting sex offen- der changes of address to the division of criminal justice services The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 168-f of the correction law, as 2 amended by chapter 67 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 4. Any sex offender shall register with the division, or a law 5 enforcement agency having jurisdiction, no later than ten calendar days 6 after any change of address, internet accounts with internet access 7 providers belonging to such offender, internet identifiers that such 8 offender uses, or [his or her] such offender's status of enrollment, 9 attendance, employment or residence at any institution of higher educa- 10 tion. If any sex offender submits a change of address, internet accounts 11 with internet access providers belonging to such offender, internet 12 identifiers that such offender uses, or such offender's status of 13 enrollment, attendance, employment or residence at any institution of 14 higher education to a law enforcement agency having jurisdiction, the 15 law enforcement agency shall, within five business days, forward the 16 form to the division. The law enforcement agency shall provide a copy of 17 the completed form to the offender and retain a copy for its records. A 18 fee of ten dollars, as authorized by subdivision eight of section one 19 hundred sixty-eight-b of this article, shall be submitted by the sex 20 offender each time such offender registers any change of address or any 21 change of [his or her] such offender's status of enrollment, attendance, 22 employment or residence at any institution of higher education. Any 23 failure or omission to submit the required fee shall not affect the 24 acceptance by the division of the change of address or change of status. 25 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
