S 2573: Prohibits the governing board of a municipal corporation from adopting any law, ordinance, regulation or policy that prohibits, or has the effect of prohibiting, the connection or reconnection of a utility service to a customer based upon the type or source of energy to be delivered to the customer.
The proposed law aims to prohibit municipal corporations from adopting local laws, ordinances, regulations, or policies that restrict the connection or reconnection of utility services to customers based on the type or source of energy. The law defines "utility service" as natural gas, propane, fuel oil, or other fossil fuels provided to a customer. This means that municipalities cannot adopt rules that prevent customers from accessing these services based on their energy source. The law takes effect immediately, aiming to promote energy accessibility and flexibility for customers.
