S 2608: Requires that the same educational requirements shall apply for students who require nursing services as for general education students; provides that nursing services may be delivered to students with disabilities through electronic communication or a virtual or online platform or in the home of the student.
The bill aims to provide virtual or remote instruction days for students who require nursing services. A day of virtual or remote instruction is considered equivalent to a full day of school attendance for meeting state and local graduation requirements, awarding course credit, and other educational matters. Students with nursing needs must have access to the same educational opportunities as their peers, which can be delivered through electronic communication, a virtual or online platform, or in the home of the student, as required by their individualized education program. The school district will reimburse the provider of nursing services at the rate of a full instructional day, allowing guardians to choose their preferred provider. The bill takes effect immediately.
