S 2609: Authorizes the district attorney to intervene in a proceeding brought by the owner of a premises upon which the tenant's occupancy is illegal.
The proposed law aims to allow the district attorney to intervene in a court proceeding where a tenant is being evicted for illegal use or occupancy of a residential rental property. The district attorney can appear as a party in the case by filing a notice of appearance with the court. This intervention can occur regardless of the grounds for eviction, such as non-payment of rent, violation of lease terms, or illegal activities. The district attorney's involvement can help ensure that the eviction is fair and lawful. The law will take effect immediately upon passage.
