What S 2663 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law aims to protect mortgagors by prohibiting mortgagees from refusing to accept partial mortgage payments that do not bring the mortgagor up to date on their mortgage debt. This change ensures that mortgagees must accept partial payments to avoid delaying the mortgagor's ability to pay off the loan. The new law does not eliminate any other contractual or statutory rights or remedies available to mortgagors. The proposed law will take effect thirty days after it becomes a law.
