What S 2685 does, verified April 15, 2026
The state of New York is considering a bill that aims to allow state and local municipalities to purchase goods and services from sources other than the Correctional Industries Program. Currently, state agencies and local governments are required to purchase certain commodities from this program. The proposed bill would change this requirement, allowing them to purchase from other suppliers if the goods meet the required form, function, and utility. This change would take effect immediately.
