What S 270 does, verified July 16, 2026

The bill provides an exemption from requirements for the alienation of park land for renewable energy generating projects. Real property acquired and developed with funds from the environmental conservation law can be sold or disposed of without legislative authority, as long as the sale or disposal applies only to the sale or disposal of airspace directly above the real property and is for a solar energy project with a generating capacity not exceeding two megawatts. The exemption does not apply to the Adirondack Park or Catskill Park, and the exemption takes effect immediately, applying to alienations of park land for renewable energy generating projects occurring on or after the effective date.
