What S 2718 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law aims to amend the Public Authorities Law to add two new trustees to the Power Authority, representing Niagara County and St. Lawrence County. These new trustees will be appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, and will serve initial terms of one and two years, respectively. The law also establishes that each trustee will hold office until a successor is appointed and qualified, and that the governor will appoint a successor to fill any vacancy in the office of a trustee. The law requires that four trustees constitute a quorum for the authority to organize and conduct its business.
