What S 3232 does, verified February 11, 2026
The bill proposes to amend the election law to update the age requirement for voting in a primary election. Currently, a person must be at least 18 years old to vote in a general election. However, the bill allows 17-year-olds to vote in a primary election if they will turn 18 by the time of the general election. The bill also requires voters to be residents of the state and county for at least 30 days before an election. The changes will take effect at the same time as a proposed constitutional amendment to update voter qualifications.
