What S 3333 does, verified January 9, 2026

The bill aims to improve safety on New York roads by requiring drivers to yield to vehicles displaying a green or blue light, which indicates they are authorized to pass through traffic. When a vehicle with a green or blue light is approaching, drivers of other vehicles are required to stop and move to the side of the road, giving the authorized vehicle the right-of-way. This rule does not exempt authorized emergency vehicles or vehicles displaying a green or blue light from their duty to drive with reasonable care for all road users. The bill takes effect immediately.
