S 3434: Relates to selectively cutting timber and exclusion of current best management practices from regulated activities.
The bill aims to exempt certain agricultural activities from environmental regulations. On lands used for active agriculture or silviculture, farmers and landowners can engage in activities such as grazing, watering livestock, harvesting natural products, selectively cutting timber, and draining land without needing a permit. However, certain structures and filling activities are still subject to regulation. Additionally, the use of land for purposes other than agriculture in freshwater wetlands is subject to the provisions of the article. Once agricultural or silviculture activities cease, activities on these lands will be subject to environmental regulations. The bill takes effect immediately.
