Senate BillIntroduced
S 3469: Extends the statute of limitations for complaints alleging cases of sexual harassment in employment, to 3 years or within 1 year of the complainant's employment termination at such employer, whichever is later.
What S 3469 does, verified January 8, 2026
The proposed law aims to extend the statute of limitations for certain sexual harassment complaints in New York. The current law limits complaints to be filed within three years of the alleged incident. However, the new law proposes to increase this timeframe to three years after the alleged incident, or one year after the complainant's employment termination, whichever is later. This change is intended to provide more time for victims to come forward and report their experiences. The law will take effect 30 days after it becomes a law and will apply to complaints filed on or after that date.
