STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 36 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN SENATE (Prefiled) January 8, 2025 ___________ Introduced by Sens. MAYER, MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the labeling of medi- cation abortion prescription drugs The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 6807 of the education law is 2 amended by adding a new paragraph b-1 to read as follows: 3 b-1. (1) Notwithstanding paragraph b of this section, the 4 prescription label for medication abortion prescription drugs may 5 include the name of the dispensing health care practice instead of the 6 name of the dispenser. 7 (2) For the purposes of this paragraph, "medication abortion 8 prescription drugs" means substances used in the course of medical 9 treatment intended to induce the termination of a pregnancy including, 10 but not limited to, mifepristone and misoprostol. 11 § 2. Section 6810 of the education law is amended by adding a new 12 subdivision 1-a to read as follows: 13 1-a. (a) Notwithstanding subdivision one of this section, at the 14 prescriber's request, the prescription label for medication abortion 15 prescription drugs may include the name of the prescribing health care 16 practice instead of the name of the prescriber. 17 (b) For the purposes of this subdivision, "medication abortion 18 prescription drugs" means substances used in the course of medical 19 treatment intended to induce the termination of a pregnancy including, 20 but not limited to, mifepristone and misoprostol. 21 § 3.
