What S 361 does, verified February 27, 2026
The NYCHA Utility Accountability Act aims to provide relief to tenants in New York City who experience disruptions in heat, water, gas, or electricity services. The law requires the New York City Housing Authority to reduce the rent for affected tenants by at least $75 per month, or ten percent of their daily rent, for each day the service is disrupted. This act is designed to provide temporary assistance to tenants who are impacted by these disruptions and to promote accountability within the housing authority.
