S 3776: Prohibits cancellation, non-renewal or conditioning renewal of automobile insurance of a policyholder solely as a result of a dispute or a complaint pending against the insurer.
What S 3776 does, verified January 8, 2026
The bill aims to prohibit insurers from cancelling or refusing to renew automobile insurance policies in certain cases. Insurers cannot cancel or refuse renewal based solely on a disputed claim or a pending complaint against the insurer. This protection applies to private passenger automobile policies and ensures that insurers do not unfairly penalize policyholders due to unresolved disputes. The changes take effect immediately.
