S 378: Directs the education department and OCFS to prepare posters and pamphlets with information regarding higher education funding opportunities for foster youth.
The bill aims to increase higher education funding opportunities for foster youth in New York. The commissioner of education and the office of children and family services will create and display posters, pamphlets, and other written materials regarding state and federally operated programs that provide funding for foster youth at SUNY and CUNY institutions. These materials will be displayed at admissions and financial aid offices, as well as on the institutions' websites, the department's website, and the office of children and family services' website. The bill will take effect on the 90th day after it becomes a law.

Section 355 of the education law is amended by adding a new 2 subdivision 22 to read as follows: 3 22. The commissioner, in conjunction with the commissioner of the 4 office of children and family services, shall create and display in a 5 visually conspicuous manner posters, pamphlets, or other written materi- 6 als regarding state and federally operated programs that provide funding 7 opportunities for foster youth at the higher education institutions of 8 the State University of New York and City University of New York, as 9 well as the eligibility requirements for such programs. Such information 10 shall be displayed at admissions and financial aid offices located on 11 the premises of such institutions, as well as on such institutions' 12 websites, the website of the department, and the website of the office 13 of children and family services. 14 § 2.
