S 3963: Provides for voluntary certification of certified recovery community centers.
The proposed legislation aims to establish and regulate certified recovery community centers in New York. Certified recovery community centers will be voluntary, evidence-based facilities that provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals in recovery from addiction. These centers will be required to follow specific guidelines, including staffing, referrals, participant safety, and confidentiality. The centers will also be subject to regular inspections and penalties for non-compliance. The state will consult with the department of health to ensure that the services provided by these centers are reimbursable in the state Medicaid system. The law will take effect on the 90th day after it becomes a law.
