What S 4056 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to amend the labor law to allow school districts and childcare businesses to view the social media accounts of prospective employees. This change would broaden the definition of an "employer" to include government entities and their agents, expanding the scope of who can access social media accounts for employment purposes. The provisions of this section would not apply to certain law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and other entities licensed under the social services law. The bill would take effect immediately upon passage.
