S 446: Enhances penalties for multiple convictions of certain moving violations within a one year time period; requires one year license revocation.
The bill aims to provide mandatory license revocation for certain traffic infractions by drivers. It updates the Vehicle and Traffic Law to impose stricter penalties for repeat offenders. Specifically, it targets drivers who hold a Class DJ or MJ learner's permit or license and commit a second or subsequent violation within six months of restoring their permit or license. For drivers who commit a third or subsequent violation within a 12-month period, the law also imposes stricter penalties. The bill also expands the list of offenses that can result in license revocation, including certain violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. In addition, the law sets a minimum revocation period of one year for all affected drivers.
