What S 4526 does, verified January 9, 2026

The bill aims to expand health care plan contract coverage for healthcare providers. If a contract between a plan and a healthcare provider is not renewed or is terminated, the parties must continue to abide by the contract terms, including reimbursement terms, for a period of 120 days from the termination or non-renewal date. The plan must provide notice to all enrollees potentially affected within 15 days after the commencement of the 120-day period. The commissioner has the authority to waive this period upon request of either party if the contract is being terminated for cause. This provision does not apply where both parties mutually agree in writing to the termination or non-renewal and the plan provides notice to the enrollee at least 30 days in advance.
