What S 469 does, verified January 9, 2026

The state of New York will be liable for any interest payments or ancillary expenses incurred by school districts due to delayed payments of state aid. This is due to the state's failure to adopt the aid to localities budget by April 1 in any fiscal year when budget bills have not been adopted. To address this, the governor will prepare and submit chapter amendments to the aid to localities budget within 30 days of adopting the budget bills, providing for additional reimbursement to repay school districts for these expenses. This reimbursement will be paid upon the audit of vouchers certified by the school district's chief fiscal officer. The provisions of this act will take effect immediately.
