S 4743: Permits a distinctive plate for active duty military service members.
The bill proposes to create a distinctive license plate for active duty military service members. The plate would bear the words "u.s. military" and may include the branch of service indicated in words or by insignia. The plate would be issued upon proof of active duty military service and would require a one-time service charge of $10. The plate's design and production would be funded by a surety bond, and if the bond is not required due to a sufficient number of pre-orders, the bond would be discontinued after two years if two hundred or more plates are sold. The bill takes effect immediately, with the addition of the plate's design and production rules and regulations taking effect on the 180th day after the bill becomes a law.
