What S 4855 does, verified January 8, 2026
The bill aims to prevent recurring campaign donations without the donor's explicit consent. To achieve this, it requires candidates and committees to obtain affirmative consent from the donor before accepting recurring contributions. This consent must be given at the time of the initial contribution. The bill also mandates that candidates and committees provide clear disclosure of recurring contribution terms, allow contributors to cancel the contribution, and immediately cancel it upon request.
