S 5022: Allows photographs of one's self and one's own ballot while voting.
The proposed law allows voters in the state to take photographs of their own ballots and themselves while voting, including in a privacy booth or at a ballot scanner, as long as the photographs do not reveal the contents of another voter's ballot. This change is intended to give voters more freedom to share their voting experience on social media. Additionally, the law prohibits certain individuals, such as those who have not been appointed or named as inspectors of elections or clerks, from wearing or displaying buttons, badges, or emblems that could be seen as identifying them as inspectors or clerks. Those who force individuals to take photographs or post them on social media are also prohibited from doing so. The law takes effect immediately.
