S 506: Authorizes a community member who resides in the community, or a community ambassador, to apply for involuntary admission of a person alleged to be mentally ill.
The bill, known as "Tony's Law," aims to expand the definition of a person who can apply for involuntary admission due to mental illness. A member of the community, aged 18 or older, living with the person, or a community ambassador in counties or localities with an established program, can now apply for involuntary admission. This change is intended to provide more support and resources for individuals struggling with mental health issues. The law takes effect immediately, allowing for the expansion of the current system to better address the needs of those affected.
