S 507: Permits family court judges, county court judges, family support magistrates and referees to possess weapons, firearms, rifles and shotguns in restricted and sensitive locations.
The bill aims to amend the Penal Law in New York, allowing certain court officials and law enforcement personnel to possess weapons, firearms, and other restricted items in specific locations. It specifically permits family court judges, county court judges, family support magistrates, and referees to carry firearms while performing their duties. Additionally, the bill allows law enforcement personnel employed in the revenue control and security departments of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority or New York City Transit Authority to carry firearms as part of their employment. This change is intended to enhance public safety and allow authorized personnel to perform their duties more effectively.
