What S 530 does, verified February 3, 2026

The proposed amendment would limit the power of the legislature to make significant changes to a redistricting plan submitted by the independent redistricting commission. It would prevent any single amendment from affecting more than two percent of the population of any district in the plan. The amendment would apply individually to each plan, rather than combining plans for the same legislative house or congressional districts. The proposed amendment would be referred to the first regular legislative session after the next general election and published for three months prior to the election.
