The bill aims to modify the workers' compensation law in New York. It seeks to establish a penalty for employers or insurance carriers who fail to pay compensation within 14 days of the due date. If payment is delayed, the employer must pay an additional 20% of the due compensation, which will accrue in favor of the injured worker or their dependents. The employer will also be assessed a $300 penalty. This change is intended to encourage timely payments and provide a financial incentive for employers to meet their obligations. The bill takes effect immediately.
