What S 5470 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill requires individuals, companies, and organizations to provide written notice to the state's office of payments exceeding $10,000, where the payment constitutes profits from a crime or funds of a convicted person. The notice must be given as soon as possible after discovering the payment, and it must include the details of the payment and the reason for it. This is intended to prevent individuals and companies from avoiding responsibility for profits made from crimes committed by others. The bill takes effect immediately, requiring all relevant parties to comply with the new requirements.
