What S 569 does, verified March 12, 2026

The bill aims to allow county boards of elections to establish county-wide polling places. A county-wide polling place is a polling place where any person entitled to vote in the county can cast their ballot on election day. The county board of elections must obtain approval from the state board of elections before establishing a county-wide polling place. The approval process involves submitting plans to the state board at least 90 days before the next election. The state board will promulgate rules and regulations for the approval process and the implementation of county-wide polling places. County-wide polling places will be subject to all other voting and polling place requirements under the law. This change is intended to increase voting accessibility and convenience for residents in the county.
