S 5775: Suspends the registration of a vehicle which has been documented five times within an eighteen month period by a photo violation monitoring device for failure of an operator thereof to comply with traffic-control indications for a period of ninety days.
The bill aims to suspend the registration of vehicles that have been documented five times by photo violation monitoring devices for failure to comply with traffic-control indications. This suspension would occur after the owner of the vehicle has been found liable for failure to comply with traffic-control indications through the installation and operation of traffic-control signal photo violation-monitoring systems. The suspension would last for a period of ninety days. The bill also requires that a notice of liability issued to owners of motor vehicles for violations of subdivision (d) of section eleven hundred eleven of the Vehicle and Traffic Law contain a warning about the potential suspension of the vehicle's registration. The bill takes effect one year after it becomes a law and applies to violations committed on or after that date.
