New York · Senate · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified January 8, 2026

What S 5826 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to amend the cannabis law to allow additional business activities on the premises where cannabis is sold for adult-use. Currently, adult-use on-site consumption licensees cannot host certain activities, such as gambling, fireworks, or contests. However, they can now conduct other business activities, including selling non-cannabis-infused food, nonalcoholic beverages, and live musical performances. This amendment allows licensees to diversify their business operations while maintaining restrictions on cannabis-related activities. The changes take effect immediately.
