S 5925: Requires local social services districts distribute shelter information specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming persons on the district's website and as pamphlets at intake shelters.
The bill requires local social services districts to provide specific information on their shelter webpages and in pamphlets provided to intake shelters for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals. This information includes where to go if they are looking to be housed in a shelter, whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming shelter beds are available in their municipality, and if not, resources of nearby non-profit shelter options will be listed. The bill aims to ensure that these individuals have access to safe and welcoming shelter options, and that local social services districts are aware of the resources available to them. The information provided will help to promote inclusivity and support for this marginalized community.
