S 6000: Directs the department of health to establish an alternative payment methodology (APM) for federally qualified health centers to preserve and improve patient access to fertility care.
The state of New York is establishing an alternative payment methodology for federally qualified health centers to improve patient access to fertility care. The department of health will determine the payments, which will be in addition to any existing payment systems. The payments will be equal to the difference between what the eligible provider would have been paid for certain fertility drugs under the federal public health services act and the amount reimbursed by a managed care organization. Eligible fertility drugs include gonadotropin, gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists, and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists. The new payments will take effect immediately.
