Senate BillIntroduced
S 6108: Includes public employment within the definition of "employer" for purposes of wage payment provisions.
What S 6108 does, verified January 8, 2026
The bill aims to expand the definition of an employer under the Labor Law. Currently, the term "employer" only includes private businesses, but the proposed change would include any person or organization employing an individual, regardless of whether it's a private business or a public entity. This expansion would affect various sectors, including government agencies, schools, and municipalities. The bill would take effect immediately, effectively broadening the scope of the Labor Law to cover a wider range of entities.
