What S 6197 does, verified January 9, 2026

The proposed law requires electronic map or navigation systems that use GPS technology to provide the legal clearance of each bridge or elevated structure along a proposed route. This means that maps or navigation systems must indicate whether a vehicle is allowed to pass over a bridge or not. The law also states that users of these systems are responsible for complying with vehicle height and weight restrictions and all laws of the road. The law aims to improve road safety by reducing the risk of accidents caused by vehicles exceeding bridge height restrictions.
