STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 667 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN SENATE (Prefiled) January 8, 2025 ___________ Introduced by Sen. JACKSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on New York City Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring certain public schools in any city with a population over one million to offer Halal food options during lunch The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 915-a 2 to read as follows: 3 § 915-a. Halal food options. In any city having over one million 4 inhabitants, each public school shall offer Halal food options during 5 lunch. 6 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after 7 it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- 8 ment and/or repeal of any rules or regulations necessary for the imple- 9 mentation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made 10 and completed on or before such date.
