S 6742: Eliminates the sales and compensating use taxes on telephone answering services.
The proposed legislation aims to eliminate the sales and compensating use taxes on telephone answering services. This change would exempt telephone answering services from taxation, making them exempt from the sales and use taxes imposed under the state tax law. The bill also eliminates the tax on prepaid telephone calling services, ensuring that these services are not subject to taxation. Additionally, the bill updates the definition of "property and services the use of which is subject to tax" to include telephone answering services and prepaid telephone calling services. The proposed legislation would take effect 90 days after it becomes a law and would apply to the sales tax quarterly period.
