What S 7147 does, verified September 28, 2025

The proposed law aims to protect the rights of parents and guardians who provide gender-affirming care to their children. The court cannot deny or decide custody matters solely on the basis that a parent or guardian is providing or facilitating gender-affirming care. Gender-affirming care is defined as a range of social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions to support an individual's gender identity when it conflicts with their assigned birth gender. The law takes effect immediately, ensuring that parents and guardians can continue to provide necessary care without fear of court interference.
