What S 7315 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to be used for the purchase of menstrual products, including sanitary napkins, tampons, and panty liners. The Department of Social Services will apply for a waiver from the federal government to make this possible. The waiver must be approved within 90 days of the bill's effective date. The bill takes effect immediately, but the provision allowing SNAP benefits to be used for menstrual products only becomes effective once the waiver is approved. The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance will notify the Legislative Bill Drafting Commission upon the approval of the waiver.
