Senate BillIntroduced
S 7349: Requires applicants for the renewal of a driver's license to prove they have acceptable vision to operate a motor vehicle.
What S 7349 does, verified January 9, 2026
The bill requires applicants for the renewal of a driver's license to complete a vision test. The vision test must be administered by the state's transportation commissioner or their agent, or the applicant can submit a certification from a licensed optometrist or optician. Additionally, applicants for a driver's license with a hazardous materials endorsement must pass an examination to retain that endorsement. The bill also prohibits the issuance of a license that would be inconsistent with federal regulations. The bill takes effect sixty days after it becomes a law.
