S 744: Includes pistol converters in the definition of a rapid-fire modification device.

New York · Senate · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified July 2, 2025

What S 744 does, verified July 2, 2025

The bill aims to classify pistol converters as a rapid-fire modification device, which is defined as any device that accelerates the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm, rifle, or shotgun. This classification would make pistol converters illegal under New York state law, similar to other rapid-fire modification devices such as bump stocks and binary trigger systems. The bill would take effect on the same date as a proposed 2024 amendment to the penal law and general business law.
