What S 795 does, verified July 2, 2025

The bill aims to expand the definition of "surplus agricultural products" for the purposes of the "Nourish New York" program. The definition now includes consumable or edible agricultural products grown, produced, or harvested in New York, such as milk and milk products. This change will help support local farmers by allowing them to participate in the program. The bill also clarifies that beverages containing alcohol are excluded from the definition. The amendments will take effect on the same date as a previously proposed amendment to the Agriculture and Markets Law.
