Senate BillIntroduced
S 8260: Provides for the declination of a designation as a candidate or nomination for a party position if the person designated or nominated has received a diagnosis of a serious health condition or has resigned the office for which they are nominated or designated to run for re-election.
What S 8260 does, verified January 11, 2026
The proposed law aims to provide for the declination of a designation as a candidate or nomination for a party position under special circumstances. The law would prevent individuals who have been convicted of misdemeanors or felonies, have received a serious health diagnosis, or have resigned their office for any reason from being nominated or designated as candidates for future elections. This law would take effect immediately, allowing for the removal of existing candidates who meet these criteria and would help to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
