Senate BillIntroduced
S 8677: Requires an employer to provide sick leave to an employee who telecommutes at the same rate and under the same conditions that an employee present at the employer's work site would accrue it.
What S 8677 does, verified June 5, 2026
The bill aims to amend the labor law in New York to ensure that employees who telecommute are not excluded from the provisions of the paid sick leave policy. This means that telecommuting employees will accrue sick leave at the same rate and under the same conditions as comparable employees present at the work site. The new law will take effect one year after it becomes a law and will apply to the accrual of paid sick leave on and after that date.
